FAQs
Where are you located?
I am located at Little Planet Tattoo in Pyrmont! @little.planet.tattoo
55 Pyrmont Bridge Rd, Pyrmont Sydney Australia.
The studio is in a larger white building with ‘WOTSO’ signage out the front, and we are on Floor 3! If you get lost at all, feel free to DM me with any questions and/or help! When I guest spot in other cities I will post about it on my Instagram!
Is this a safe space?
A safe space is one where everyone should feel as comfortable as possible. This means that I will always strive to make you feel accepted and considered regardless of your sexuality, gender, size, race, gender expression, health status, job, etc. I will always advocate for my clients’ safety and comfort, and I ask that you do the same for me and everyone else in the shop!
PLEASE KNOW: Both you and I reserve the right to stop at any time! Your informed and continued consent is central to your tattooing experience (and mine) so there’ll be no judgment or problem if you’d like to stop at any point. We can have breaks whenever you need, and we can take multiple sessions. Everyone deserves an exciting and happy tattoo experience! I urge you to hold all tattooers to this standard.
How do I prepare for my appointment?
Stay hydrated for 24hrs beforehand and moisturise your skin after you shower. This makes a huge difference to the healing and the detail I can achieve. When you choose your clothes, consider flexibility, comfort, whether they will rub on your fresh tattoo, my ability to access your tattoo (ideally without you getting nude), and ink splatter. We have places to change and nipple covers, however the shop is a public place, so please keep that in mind. Some tattoos (especially all torso/hip) will require you to take off bra/binder/tight crop/tight pants while you’re being stenciled. I highly recommend wearing a loose button-up shirt/shorts/skirts for these areas - in most cases you’ll be able to leave it on throughout the entire process.
Make sure you eat a big meal and plenty of water before you arrive, and if you have a longer session please bring along snacks or a packed meal and a water bottle. You’re also always welcome to zone out with headphones/earplugs or a book/movie. I won’t be offended! :-) Be prepared for your appointment to take multiple hours.
DON’T: shave the area for 3 days before your appointment, be hungover, intoxicated, sunburned, or sleep deprived!
Also, the skin around your joints and hands experiences more movement and exposure than other skin. In any case, you may require a break from your usual activities in the first week of healing. Consider how this may affect your work/life beforehand.
What should I expect on the consent form?
Every person who gets tattooed at Little Planet Tattoo must fill out a consent form every time they get tattooed (by the same or different artists). You must:
Bring a physical copy of your valid photo ID (you will need to use the name on this ID, but I will call you whatever you ask me to!!)
Be 18 or more years old.
Have your COVID-19 vaccination
You must complete a checklist that includes a declaration of your health status (specifically regarding blood-borne illnesses). This information is private and is only for my safety in the case of an accidental needle stick. Please feel free to simply disclose the details privately to me if this makes you more comfortable. Tattoo procedure is always done to prevent all cross-contamination, and therefore your health status won’t exclude you from being tattooed.
Everything on your consent form is a legal requirement of NSW tattoo shops, and your information will be kept confidential.
How long will it take?
Each tattoo will differ, but generally a minimum of 1.5-2 hours. I ask you to please allow extra time to prepare your appointment to take multiple hours and keep yourself free from plans or other appointments as your session may go over our estimated time frame. It is important we take our time, and not rush, so please keep this in mind. Allowing extra time will also take into account any extra breaks you may want :-)
Will it hurt?
Pain tolerance while being tattooed will be different for everyone. You are welcome to take breaks during the tattoo to have any water/food and refresh. If at any point you feel uncomfortable with the pain and/or wish to tap out of the tattoo to complete another day, that is more than fine. Just communicate with me how you're feeling :-)
Can I not talk and/or listen to music during my tattoo?
Most definitely!! I want to make sure your tattoo experience is the most comfortable it can be. You are more than welcome to listen to music, chat with me, not talk, wear earplugs, whatever makes the experience best for you. Just let me know, this is a judgment free zone! :-)
Do you do custom designs?
Yes I do!! I am more than happy to do customs as long as it fits within my art style. Please keep in mind that custom designs do require a higher price than flash pieces and differ depending on the complexity of the design. If I accept your custom request, you will get a reply via email, offering a session time, a rough quote and a deposit required. I will start on the custom 2 weeks before our session, so there is no need to request to see the draft 1-2 months before your session.
Can I see the design draft/preview?
Depending on the complexity of the design I may send out a draft prior to our appointment but generally I do not. I always leave enough time in appointments to change small things. If you’re nervous leaving the design up to me, make sure you send me plenty of references and detailed descriptions, more detail is better than too little! :-) I do ask to be met halfway in terms of artistic direction. I understand if this makes you nervous, but i assure you I will never put you in a position where you don’t feel like you can change your mind!
Note: Any complete custom redraws/scrapped ideas may result in an extra drawing fee/deposit - as this will potentially push back your session a few weeks/months.
Do you take walk-ins?
I work in a private studio that is run by bookings only, I don’t do walk-ins. However, keep an eye out on my Instagram stories for any up-to-date appointments or last minute appointment openings I may have!
How does your pricing work?
I charge $190 per hour with a $220 minimum cost. A full day booking will be 11:30am-6:30pm (includes and unpaid lunch break) and is capped at a flat rate of $900 (deposit included)
Note: I am only able to give quotes to people who’ve completed a booking request form (not to be difficult - I can only quote once I know all that info)
What does your hourly rate cover?
A lot more behind the scenes work and effort goes into your tattoo than just the session time to make sure you receive the best service and tattoo outcome possible.
Hourly rate covers all these additional work costs whilst also ensuring I am being paid for my efforts. I have attached a lil pie chart below to help you visualise all the different factors that go into your booking! :-)
How do I pay you?
I accept CASH primarily, I also accept bank transfer! If you save my details during the deposit process, it’ll be nice and easy to pay through bank transfer on the day. :-)
Can I get a quote?
Yes! You will receive an approximate quote in my reply to your booking enquiry. Your quote will generally depend on the sizing/placement/detail of the tattoo.
Do you do touch-ups?
Yes! First touchups are free within the first year of having your tattoo! You’re welcome to request a touch-up through my email.
Is your flash repeatable?
Some is, some isn't! It's usually based on whether I would like to doit again! :-) If it's marked off on my IG flash highlight/s, it means I have retired the piece and it's no longer available. If you're not keen on getting a piece that may be repeated, I can create an altered version of the flash, this means it will then be a custom!
How do I look after my tattoo once it's done?
I’ll wrap your tattoo with a medical adhesive dressing (Second Skin). This should stay on for 4-7 days with little to no attention. If it gets punctured, begins to leak out of the dressing, or irritates your skin, remove it immediately. If you have a latex/bandage allergy we can work our way around that and use cling wrap :-). Don’t peel or lift up the second skin - instead, stretch the edges outwards, away from the centre of the tattoo. As you pull outwards keep it parallel/flat to your body, the plastic will stretch and the adhesive will break. If it helps, imagine those command strips used to hang hooks on walls. If it's peeled off it can often leave all the adhesive behind and you’ll have to gently rub eucalyptus/citrus/tea tree oil over the adhesive until you dissolve it all. Remember, stretch it, don't peel!
Wash it gently with water and pat dry with a clean towel. Apply a thin layer of aftercare cream. I recommend Inky Salve, a vegan aftercare balm based out of Melbourne, or Dr. Pickles. I can also recommend Bepanthen, which you can find in the baby aisles of the supermarket or chemists. You can shower with or without the adhesive dressing, but don’t soak, swim, or bathe until it’s fully healed (2-4 weeks). In the case of finger/hand/wrist tattoos this includes doing the dishes, gardening, etc.
